Down memory lane..

Vividly, I still remember my encounter with orchids that had caught my attention till today. As a small boy in the 80's who likes to venture around the 'kampung' so much..catching fishes in a paddy field and a stream nearby, watching birds, catching dragonflies and all sorts of bugs..Basically, most of my life as a boy revolves around my fascination with nature. During that time behind the backyard of my house there was a rubber plantation that I've always spent my time whenever I wanted to..But my favourite moment to be there, around nine days after a sudden rainstorm that triggered Dendrobium crumenatum to bloom. They are growing on many of the rubber trees. Looking at the flowers swaying in the breeze under the shady canopy, its like watching a glittering star under the dark sky. The sight, the smell of the flower up close, the pureness of the colour attracted me so much that I became 'sick' with an orchid fever ever since. To me that was the defining moment. That was how I entered the world of orchids, one of he most amazing gift of nature that I want to gladly share. The beauty of god 's creation that never ceased to amaze and fascinates people all over the world.

"Every child is born a naturalist.
His eyes are, by nature, open to the glories of the stars,
the beauty of the flowers, and the mystery of life."
