Jalan-Jalan Cari Orkid : Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands..

Just getting back from Cameron Highlands last Saturday, bringing back a lot of stuff.. Yes, none other than orchids, orchids and more orchids..Hmm..what can I say, once you get stuck with orchids nothing else matters..Its a craziness, an addiction,  an obsession.. Actually, this trip was not planned. I have to go to Kuala Lumpur to settle some errands, At the same time both of my pal were also there, so we decided to meet and on the way back we went orchid shopping..!  We travel our way from Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands. We've visited 2 nurseries in KL. Lum Chin and Hourai..and Sin Chan Wah's nursery in Cameron Highlands..I did the posting about all the nurseries mentioned before.( Just click on their names..) Found anything interesting? You bet! From only two plants targeted we brought back 3 medium boxes filled with orchids! Half of it were shared cause that was the only way we can buy more. In this post I just wanted to share some pictures of orchids from the three nurseries that we've visited..

First nursery that we've visited was Lum Chin's. What's special there? Have a look..

This is Paphiopedilum armeniacum. A rare sight for orchid collectors in Malaysia. I don't know about other country but this was such a surprise to me. Seeing live plants with flower, I've never expected to see this plants available for sale. But I dont know who will buy this plant because it needs intermediate temperatures to do well, Otherwise you can forget to grow this species. Very tempting..but knowing that I cant provide the best condition.I held myself..Least I get to see the live plants up close and get to photograph it..

Very nice isn't it?! But to me, that is as far as it goes..

Right after Lum Chin, we went to Hourai Nursery..this is my second time here..got some pictures of orchid blooming that day and of course bringing some home..!

On the way back we decided to go to Cameron Highlands, we spent a night there and next day went straight to Mr. Sin Chan Wah's nursery. This is not the private nursery, only people that knew Mr. Sin, clients or special invitation, can visit his nursery, cause he must take us in his jeep through a steep slope..

'On the way' nak balik sempat lagi OC singgah di Cameron Highlands, tidur di sana semalam, esok paginya terus ke Nurseri En. Sin Chan Wah..Nurseri ni biasanya dilawati oleh orang yang kenal dengan En.Sin sahaja..kalau tak kenal macam mana nak masuk? Nak ke sini pun En.Sin sendiri yang bawa naik jip..naik kereta memang tak sampai la..Tengok orkid-orkid di nurseri ni memang 'Wah' lah jugak..! Tak tahan..rambang mata..! Maklumlah tempat cuaca sederhana..Nak tengok orkid yang pelik-pelik di sini memang banyak..Teruja tu memang lah..tapi makan hati la jugak tengok..he..he..

Semasa datang tak bawa apa-apa tetapi masa balik penuh satu kereta dengan orkid..
Dah sampai rumah jenuh  nak me'repot' lah pulak..tapi tu lah kerjanya dengan orkid ni. tak pernah habis..tapi amat menggembirakan bila melihat pokok kita tanam tu hidup subur dan berbunga..

Came with nothing, but back with a car full of orchids..Now some of the orchid really needs repotting..the never ending chores. But its all worth it when watching the plants grow and flower for us..

A flower falls, even though we love it;
and a weed grows, even though we do not love it.

    1. Thanks for liking my blog! It can bloom, Its a cutting from the mother plant. The mother plant was blooming during that time in Hourai Orchids..I bought it for only RM25. But that was one the last cuttings. Its quite small. Only one left but it was even smaller..Guess you have to wait.. The cattleya was raised from seed so its not expensive I think also around RM25.

Waktu malam cuba check. Lagila kalau pokok tu tak digantung. Kumbang biasanya tak makan daun orkid.
Kalau siput boleh guna racun siput (kalau banyak sangat siput,)atau tangkap siput tu letak je garam..atau pandai-pandaila 'uruskan'..Saya pun malam-malam memang ronda jengok2 pokok takut jadi kes macam ni lah..
